Locally common on a wet bank at about 400m a.s.l. It is probably common in similar suitable habitats in the area but unless in flower is almost impossible to pick up. M. unifolia and Prasophyllum colensoi were also growing and flowering in close proximity. Depending on the height of the grass the plants were up to 150mm.

The last photograph shows the habitat with a few M. oligantha growing with the centella.
