Description

"The frog was with us for 3 years, alas he has not been seen (or heard) since last summer. Perhaps his luck finally ran out. He would start up about this time of year, and be active until it started getting cold in October or so. He hung out on the side of our pool at night and occasionally would swim in it... We got to enjoy his nightly sounds, even bought a little wooden frog noise maker that sounded similar, and which he would sometimes respond to.

"Then late in the year, for a few days, we would hear him in various neighbor’s yards until he finally stopped for the winter. We assumed he was looking for a better place to hibernate than our yard.

"I think he liked our yard because of our salt water pool. Obviously he isn’t a salt water animal, but I’m guessing it is much less irritating than a chlorine pool. That also might account for his disappearance, since sometime last summer our salt water system failed and our pool man started treating it with chlorine... The timing with his disappearance is roughly the same."
