Description

Female Pantala hymenaea

I went for a long walk with my brother to try and see who could spot the most Macromia illinoiensis. Quite a few of these out.

I also found an almost translucent, drained thorax of a male Pachydiplax longipennis lying in the middle of the sidewalk. Unlike the other specimens I collected that had tire marks, I think the Blue Dasher could've been prey a robber fly dropped after finishing up. Unfortunately that was near the end of our walk and we were too hungry and thirsty from walking around in the heat so I didn't take any photos.

I collected that specimen along with another dragonfly I suspect has been the victim of a robber fly. Maybe I can do some close-ups soon.
