What

Snowy Egret (Egretta thula)

Description

Snowy egrets, which stalk but also hunt by shuffling their yellow feet to disturb prey, seem to me to prefer upstream pools. The great egret more often stalks the broader tidal reaches downstream. Is this impression correct? Is aquatic vegetation important in protecting small fish from these and other predators, such as kingfishers?
