I participated in the Pt. Reyes January 2007 Mycoblitz, kind of a Christmas bird count for mushrooms. Got up early, picked up some friends, and spent the day puttering around the woods. Can't ask for much more from a Saturday.

Laccaria amethysteo-occidentalis is a damn fine scientific name. This was our first of the day, growing under some scrub in a mixed oak / fir area.
