There are two chachalacas know from this area, West Mexican Chachalaca and Rufous-bellied Chachalaca. The former has a pale breast area and the latter rufous underparts. This shot does not allow a good look at the underparts but they were entirely pale except around the legs which showed a little rusty wash. West Mexican Chachalaca shows red skin in the orbital ring area like this bird while Rufous-bellied has gray skin in the orbital area.
