Description

These ruffled olive green Hippodiplosia insculpta or Fluted Bryozoan are colonies of little animals called "moss animals." They look almost like pieces of stiff kelp and are about 2" wide. These Hippodiplosia insculpta were growing on a huge rock that is usually submerged, but I visited it during a minus tide. I believe that is Suberites montiniger, or a Peach Ball Sponge, at the lower left.
