Adirondack Orchid Survey

The primary purpose of the Adirondack Orchid survey is to establish baseline data on the number, locations, and abundance of orchid species within the Adirondacks. Through the survey efforts, data will also be collected on population trends, phenology, natural history, and types and severity of stressors. Secondarily, the survey effort will aim to check historical records through herbaria specimens and test survey methods for application to a more comprehensive survey throughout New York State. We hope that through the survey effort we will provide opportunities for participation in field botany, educate the public about our orchid species, and provide management strategies to preserve them. less ↑
