Please help us learn about the secret lives of bobcats (Lynx rufus) in your neighborhood. Our primary focus is Southern California, but photos of bobcats anywhere are of interest. By sharing your photos of bobcats that you see in your neighborhood-- or when you are on a hike -- we can learn about important areas for bobcats, and how they may interact with our presence and development in an area. Also by gathering information on potential incidences of disease we can learn about the health of local populations. With high quality photos, we can identify bobcats as individuals from their spot patterns and compare observations of them in residential areas to other areas. This information helps us understand about the benefits and risks to bobcats of living in close proximity to people. Submissions will contribute to research conducted by the National Park Service, the U.S. Geological Survey, and other institutions. Contact Joanne Moriarty (joanne_moriarty@nps.gov) for more information.
