By way of an ecological assessment project of the Northern Oak Hairstreak (Satyrium favonius ontario), I became acquainted with and quite fond of the Blue Hills Reservation and its many biological inhabitants. My part of the research project involved sampling caterpillars under burlap bands on oak trees and making field observations of adult butterflies. In the process of this work I was happily distracted by the birds, bugs, reptiles, flowers, trees etc that call Great Blue Hill home. I have a good amount of images from my time on site and hope to add more as I continue to visit the area. I will encourage others to join iNaturalist and add there photos and notes so we may have a full and easily accessible checklist of the biota of such a wonderful place to hike and wander.

The majority of my images will be from the ski area, but I hope that photos from the many other areas on the reservation will be added over time. less ↑
