Welcome to the California Science Center Kelp Forest Census
Since the warm waters of the summer of 2014, giant kelp abundance along the California Coast has declined. In an effort to document the return of giant kelp, we're looking for help in identifying where people are seeing it. If you have photos of kelp taken underwater, on the surface, or just washed up on the beach, we'd love to see them and find out where they were taken.
