The Denniston Plateau is situated east of Westport on the West Coast. Just south of the Stockton Plateau.

Famous for sandstone pavements and stunted rata forest.

Impacted by historic underground coal mining as well as several current and proposed coal mines, including the 'Escarpment mine'.
