Fish Project at the ODC Nature Preserve is open!

Today, Fish Project of ODC was created. I posted a pinned map for each Pond at ODC to enable users to enter the pond in which a fish was caught (A, B, C, D or E). The guide: "Fish at the Outdoor Discovery Center Nature Preserve" was also started. Use the menu at top to get to the fish guide; this will narrow down your choices to make identification much easier! ---Kathy W-M

We debuted using inaturalist for the Outdoor Discovery Center fish project yesterday on 3 June 2014, with volunteers from the Hope Biology Summer Research program. There were a total of 21 captures, including several recaptures from previous years, and 8 managed to be logged into the database by smartphone users - thanks! One of our captures was identified by a professional colleague in the inaturalist community as a Northern Longear Sunfish (Lepomis peltastes), which would make this the first record of this species at ODC since we started identifying fish in 2009. We also recaptured several fish from previous years, including Largemouth Bass #050, originally tagged on August 3, 2009!
