Taxonomic notes: Section empty

This species is known only from the Serra de Maranguape, in the State of Ceará, north-eastern Brazil, at 800-900m asl.

It is abundant in certain parts of its small range and is regularly recorded.

This is a diurnal species that lives in the leaf-litter of primary and secondary forest, and has also been found in bamboo and banana plantations, as well as forest fragments (but not open habitats). It is a direct developer, and the eggs are probably laid on the ground.

The Serra de Maranguape is being very heavily deforested, due to logging, agriculture, and human settlement.

It is not found in any protected areas, and the formal protection of remaining forest and forest fragments in the Serra de Maranguape is urgently needed.

Listed as Endangered because its extent of occurrence is less than 5,000 km², all individuals are in a single location, and there is continuing decline in the extent and quality of its habitat on the Serra de Maranguape.
