Hi All!
I am starting a mushroom group to get some forward motion going on studying Guam mycology.
Our first meeting will be Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 10:00am. Location to be announced later, probably here and definitely on Instagram at [@] guam.fungi.
EDIT: location is the University of Guam Marine Laboratory classroom RM 205.
My current agenda is to gauge interest and do an introductory how-to for posting on iNaturalist, as this is still the easiest place to collect observations. I’ll probably also mention Mushroom Observer.
Goals for this society are:
- a survey of Guam fungal diversity,
- creation of a fungarium,
- DNA sequencing of said samples,
- create a database for this info,
- cross-reference with other databases (iNat, Mushroom Observer, GenBank, etc.),
- and ultimately the creation of a field guide for Guam fungi.
If this interests you, come to our meeting, and if ...more ↓

If this interests you, come to our meeting, and if you can’t make it but have ideas, let me know! Everyone is welcome—I am not a mycologist. I’m just doing this because no one else is and I’m bored of waiting around for some more knowledgeable person to do it (lol).
Hope to see people there!
