Bioblitz May 17-19 at Needmore

What: Bioblitz event at Needmore Game Land
When:

• Friday May 17, 9am to 10:30pm - schedule and registration
• Saturday May 18, 8am to 10:30pm - schedule and registration
• Sunday May 19, 9am to5pm - schedule and registration

Where: Lower Needmore Road in the Needmore Game Land near Bryson City (details at links above)

Why: Needmore has a ton of great habitats and near-pristine wilderness and that makes a great place to find LOTS of different kinds of insects, plants, birds, and much more. Mainspring Conservation Trust is partnering with Highlands Biological Station and Discover Life in America to carry out a short, targeted census of the biodiversity at Needmore.

We need your help! Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to participate in this free event. No experience necessary.

• This event is free of charge
• Please download and login to the iNaturalist app before the event
• Sessions include: plants and natural communities; insect identification and behavior; mushrooms and fungi; butterflies and dragonflies; lightning bugs; birds, snakes, mosses, ferns, liverworts; aquatic macroinvertebrates; wildflowers; and riparian plants and nut trees
