Martha's Vineyard Landscape Connectivity: Road Kill

The purpose of this project is to record road-killed wildlife in an effort to identify connectivity bottlenecks around the Martha's Vineyard landscape. Road kill can be assumed to be a significant source of mortality for many vertebrate species, possibly including vulnerable ones such as box turtle, spotted turtle, and black racer. A better understanding of how many animals succumb to road kill, what species are involved, and where road kill occurs may point to measures that can reduce mortality in species of conservation concern. Observations of any species that appears to have been road-killed on Martha's Vineyard may be included in this project. less ↑
