Curly Plumeless Thistle (Carduus crispus), new priority weed

The Oregon State Weed Board has added a new priority weed to the Oregon Noxious Weed List, Curly Plumeless Thistle, Carduus crispus. This thistle is invasive in several US states including Washington and has been detected in Wallowa County, Oregon. The Oregon Dept. of Agriculture has listed it as a List A weed, meaning that any populations should be eradicated whenever found in Oregon. It is also a "T" weed, meaning ODA's noxious weed program will prioritize its prevention and control.

Please be on the lookout for this plant and report findings to this project or to the Oregon Invasive Species Hotline, which will put you directly in touch with local managers.

For technical description see the Flora of North America.
