Welcome to the 2016 Porpathon! - the first-ever region-wide Marine Wildlife Observation Blitz. Porpathon observations will take place during daylight hours on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Members of the public of all ages and abilities are invited to participate for an hour or two—or all day—and report sightings of harbor porpoises, harbor seals, seabirds, and other marine wildlife. Observe at one of several designated lookouts, from the water by kayak or boat, or from land anywhere that affords a view of the Salish Sea saltwater (public land, private land with owner's permission, or your own home). The more the merrier, so bring your friends and family!
These day-long and region-wide wildlife observations will provide an important snapshot of the local marine environment to assist Pacific Biodiversity Institute research into alleviating human-caused stress on the Salish Sea.
