I've been curious about small mammals being left along a trail I commute along and this morning I figured out that I must be startling a fox who let a frustrated yelp when I stopped to investigate his prize.
When faced with a relative 10 story tall threat they don't tuck tail and run, rather pretend to be invisible and if that doesn't work they just get fiesty.

Was sitting on a rock shore on the Vermillion River at the Strathclair trailhead.
Enjoying a bath and drink of water out of the visitor center fountain. There were 2 of them.
These cute lil' guys ran in front of my gate one day. It's rare that a sow has 4 cubs, can you find them all? She was a large bear and her and her cubs attracted a lot of attention, including people getting out of their cars to take pictures. Bears are unpredictable and dangeroos, not a good idea to approach them.
