NZ is known to have 4 species of introduced bumblebee. But it is not as though only 4 species were selected and imported (though it was recognised that the initial imports lacked long tongue bumblebees). But half a century after their introduction a selection was sent back to the UK for identification and it was deemed that we have 4 extant species. I wonder whether other species are still represented in our bumblebee gene pool, so are collecting together observations of bumblebees that don't quite fit. less ↑
