Growing along the shore of the pond behind bybee pottery store. A quiet residential area. Pond is susceptible to sunlight through most of the day. Inhabits many species of plants and witnessed some frogs.
~10 individuals in area. Inflorescence a bright, violet-purple. Stem and leaves dark green and somewhat pubescent.
Showed up at edge of field several years ago.
This ironweed was different than the ones that I've seen before... Will have to study it a bit more.
Vernonia altissima-Tall ironweed-notice bracts are short-pointed indicating it is not New York Ironweed
