Description

Small bird with black head and thick white band on the cheek. The rest of the body was a muted brown color. These birds (approximately 7-10 of them) were in a brush area most likely feeding on gnats. Identification from bird book. Picture of area, but no birds visible in picture.

Description

I heard this chickadee before spotting it because of the distinct call it makes. Also the coloring of the white and black on its head are specific to the black-capped chickadee. This bird had just caught a worm and was sitting in the tree eating it when I took this picture.
