First record for Newfoundland; possibly introduced via hiking boots (very common on trail margins in northern Appalachians and southern NS). One clump also seen on Gros Morne Mountain trail.
Danthonia compressa is a species of grass known by the common names mountain oatgrass, flattened oatgrass, and slender oatgrass. It is native to North America, where it can be found in eastern Canada and the eastern United States. In the southern part of its range it is restricted to the high elevations of the Appalachian Mountains.
