That observation was made near Fila Asunción, Limón, Costa Rica by Víctor Acosta, Gabriela Mora, José Andrés Salazar and Héctor Zumbado.
This is one of the smaller Costa Rican centronelid species.
Hyalinobatrachium valerioi is a species of frog in the Centrolenidae family. It is found in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, rivers, and heavily degraded former forest. It is threatened by habitat loss.
