Micropechis is a poorly understood genus of highly venomous elapid snake. Only one recognized member of this genus exists, M. ikaheka. It is considered dangerous to humans, and numerous fatalities have been recorded in New Guinea and adjacent islands, where the snake is endemic. Until 1970, M. elapoides was recognized as a second species, but this was later transferred to Loveridgelaps elapoides by herpetologist Samuel Booker McDowell.
