Description

This lizard kept crawling under my tent and would not leave. I was afraid of squashing it and am pathetic, so I ended up sleeping in my car.

The Greater Earless Lizard (Cophosaurus texanus) is a species of earless lizard found in the southern United States, in the states of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona, and in Mexico in the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas, and San Luis Potosi. While C. texanus is the only species within its genus, it does have two subspecies. It is called "greater" because it grows larger than the earless lizards of the genus...
