coming down the coastal trail from cozelman road on my mtn bike..in the meadow on the right. quite docile, the cat let me approach to within about 30 yards until some trail runners came by, then it sauntered away.
As I returned to the parking lot, a bobcat walked out of the woods and sat down near a dumpster. It seemed about as afraid of people as a slightly shy house cat, keeping a safe distance but not appearing the least bit nervous. So I took a lot of pictures.
The Bobcat (Lynx rufus) is a North American mammal of the cat family, Felidae. With twelve recognized subspecies, it ranges from southern Canada to northern Mexico, including most of the continental United States. The Bobcat is an adaptable predator that inhabits wooded areas, as well as semi-desert, urban edge, forest edges and swampland environments. It persists in much of its original range and populations are healthy.
