Two packs of Coyotes can be heard in the first recording, one close and the other more distant. We could hear a third pack at the same time but it was too distant for my phone to record. All three packs were from different directions and distances. So awesome.

What

Schnauzer (Canis lupus familiaris) Canis familiaris

Observer

milagrosyepez

Date

September 23, 2014

Description

They are protective and energetic, and will alert members of the household to any potential danger. The schnauzer, ever alert, makes an excellent watchdog, although its watchful nature can lead to persistent barking. To avoid annoying the neighbors, dog owners should make every effort to curb excessive barking through training. The breed is of above average intelligence and can be independent minded, so early training and diverse daily exercise is recommended.
Schnauzers have distinctive beards and long, feathery eyebrows. They are generally a salt and pepper color, black, or white, but they can be brown also. Typically, they are shaved down the back while the hairs on their legs are kept long and curly. Some show schnauzers have their back hairs "stripped" by hand.

What

Poodle (Canis lupus familiaris) Canis familiaris

Observer

milagrosyepez

Date

September 20, 2014

Description

The poodle is an active, intelligent and elegant dog, squarely built, and well proportioned. To ensure the desirable squarely built appearance, the length of body measured from the breastbone to the point of the rump approximates the height from the highest point of the shoulders to the ground. The eyes should be very dark, oval in shape, and have an alert and intelligent expression. The ears should fold over close to the head, set at, or slightly below, eye level. The coat should be of naturally curly texture, dense throughout, although most AKC-registered show dogs have a lion-cut or other, similarly shaven look.

Description

Although the Giant Schnauzer is called 'Giant', this is not in comparison to other large dog breeds such as the Great Dane or the Rottweiler, but instead in comparison to the Standard and Miniature Schnauzers. Males stand from 25.5 to 27.5 inches (65 to 70 cm) at the withers, and for females stand from 23.5 to 25.5 inches (60 to 65 cm). Giant Schnauzers are square in shape, and should resemble a larger version of the Standard Schnauzer.
The tail is always docked where it is legal, and the ears are usually cropped. The cheeks are flat, but well muscled. Giant Schnauzers come in two colors: solid black and a pattern called pepper and salt, where banded hairs of black and white hairs cover the body, giving it the appearance of having been peppered and salted.
