This is the same slime mold I've looked at in previous weeks. Today I went back with Leslie Flint, and she both pulled off the remnants of the one atop the log, and also noted a larger mass of slime mold below.
This was "growing" on a log next to a more mature specimen. I haven't seen this form before so not sure if I have it right.
I have posted pictures of this object over the past two weeks. Here is its latest incarnation, or fading away.
This is the same location as my previous slime molds. This picture was a taken about a week after the first of this growth, still showing the lip between the log and the mold.
This dog vomit slime mold was growing in a newly mulched planter. I haven't ever seen one quite so large. It seemed fairly fresh also.
On the same stump where I found my only other slime mold. I don't think this is the same kind. The larger of the two was raised a bit. I have more pictures; I just posted my best two here.
Mycetozoa is a grouping of slime molds.
