Another county, another juvie rattlesnake.

This snake was dead in the road on the way to lake Sonoma. It was about 2.5 feet long and had circular spots up and down its back. Due to the area I found it in and the coloring of the stripes on its tail(light and dark brown) I was able to identify it as a northern pacific rattlesnake
Crotalus oreganus is a venomous pitviper species found in North America in the western United States, parts of British Columbia and northwestern Mexico. Seven subspecies are currently recognized, including the nominate subspecies described here.
