Had today off, so I ran a few errands, and stopped by a park, of course. Was surprised (although not really) to see @bob777 at Southwest Nature Preserve! We walked around for a bit and spotted some more cool things. :)
The leaf shape reminds me of dandelion leaves, but the growth pattern is different.
I think this is a young plant where the leaves haven't fully developed yet and there are no flowers yet. I based that on the appearance of the leaves with the white stripe down the middle and the way they halfway clasp the stem. But I may be wrong; if so, please correct.
Lactuca canadensis is a species of wild lettuce known by the common names Canada lettuce, Canada wild lettuce, tall lettuce, and Florida blue lettuce. Its true native range is not clear, but it is considered to be a native of parts of North America. It can be found in other parts, and on other continents, as an introduced species.
