Prominent parallel veins on leaves. Long leaves arranged in basal rosettes. Flowers small, arranged in dense spikes. Found in disturbed sites and lawns.
A single specimen of this plantain was seen in the riparian zone of Santa Rosa Creek near the Flat Rocks confluence.
English Plantain (Plantago lanceolata); I was actually photographing the goslings at the edge of Red House Lake, but it's pretty easy to see the plantains, at least the flowers/seedheads; enlarge if needed; photo ref.: Plantain,English_ANP_©DaveSpier_D006769e
