large number of them on the muddy bank of brackish water (lower Connecticut river)
These larger fiddlers were mixed in with the smaller Uca pugnax. I don't have a copy of Jocelyn Crane's great book on fiddlers so I don't know the technicalities of the differences between the two, but minax tend to be larger, whiter and have red marks on their joints.
