Brahminy Kites were exceedingly common, but one of the few raptor species I saw.
You can see this bird at Sewri Mudflats of Mumbai. The sightings of this birds are increased in mumbai just after monsoon. Once I have seen this bird was trying to attack one little egret which was got stuck in the mud and this kite was trying hard to capture the egret. I was lucky to see this whole event at Sewi Mudflats of mumbai.
The Brahminy Kite (Haliastur indus), also known as the Red-backed Sea-eagle, is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors such as eagles, buzzards and harriers. They are found primarily in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and Australia.
