Crest on head, band by eye, pattern in back, no scales. Elongate body. Found in tidepool.
Found tidepool baling in Deadmans Cove in San Juan Island. The prickleback was extremely dark in coloration and was extremely agile and motile when disturbed. The fish had a two dark lines which extended from the eyes of the fish. In addition the caudal peduncle of the fish had a small line before the beginning of the caudal fin. The fish prefers small crevices to occupy when settled.
Didn't even notice me second one in there when I was taking this. Also rather amazed they haven't been fished out of pillar point.
