Craugastor stejnegerianus seen amongst leaf litter in primary and secondary rainforest. These small frogs, just over 1cm in length, are very numerous. At times the leaf litter seems alive with tiny brown frogs avoiding being stepped on.
Craugastor stejnegerianus is a species of frog in the Leptodactylidae family. It is found in Costa Rica and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montanes, pastureland, plantations , and heavily degraded former forest. It is threatened by habitat loss.
