The copyright date on the photo is incorrect. This was in May, 1985.
It took the previous observation (http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/2542606) to figure out that this was an immature Great Plains Skink.
Immature Great Plains Skink starting to get adult coloring.
This animal had taken a lot of recent damage but was healing well.
