Late morning, warm & sunny.
Snake was sunning on street. Observed a mockingbird hovering over and swooping down at snake.

The black rat snake (Pantherophis obsoletus) — also called pilot black snake or simply black snake — is a nonvenomous colubrid species found in North America. No subspecies are currently recognized.
