small, around 30 cm max...probably an early summer hatchling? Found near a garden area inside a bucket used to water plants, must have fallen in. Had identity confirmed by professor at American University of Beirut. Based on tail length and vent placement I am assuming this is a male, but unsure.
The Red Whip Snake (Platyceps collaris) is a species of snake in the Colubridae family. It is monotypic within the genus Platyceps. It is found in Bulgaria, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestinian Territory, Occupied, Syria, and Turkey. Its natural habitats are Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, rocky areas, arable land, pastureland, plantations , and rural gardens.
