This is the first Eastern Towhee I've ever found in the Austin area. It appeared on the scene about 5 minutes after I announced that the Frostweed ice crystals were the coolest observation of the morning! The photos are soft, but this is about the best my camera can do in heavy overcast conditions like we had this morning. I'm just glad I could briefly coax the bird out into the open! Taken during the monthly bird walk on Hill Country Conservancy's Nalle Bunny Run.
San Luis Obispo County, California, US
I find this bird difficult to photograph since it usually stays among brushy limbs near the ground.
