Frank Moses - Skaneateles Lake Association Executive Director

The Skaneateles Lake Association’s (SLA) Executive Director Frank Moses joined the effort in protecting the lake in May of 2019. He brings with him a strong background in water ecology, non-profit management, conservation, and community engagement.

Frank has been instrumental in advancing SLA’s mission through its key program areas in Invasive Species Prevention and Management, Watershed Wide Community Collaboration, Environmental Education, and addressing Harmful Algal Blooms through research and data-driven decision making associated with implementation of Skaneateles Lake Watershed Improvement Projects.

Frank’s academic background focused on water and lake ecology studies at Paul Smith’s College where he also researched as part of his capstone aquatic invasive species. He continued his education at SUNY-ESF with a concentration in environmental policy and management while spending his summers as an environmental educator for the NYSDEC.

Frank continued as an outdoor educator for over ten years before taking on a role in Montezuma as National Audubon Society’s youngest Center Director at the time. With Audubon, he helped broker a transfer of over 600 acres of enhanced and newly established habitat in Seneca County and with Honeywell established the Onondaga Lake Conservation Corps, a national award winning conservation program.

Prior to accepting the Executive Director position at SLA, Frank was the Director of Community Engagement and Organizational Advancement for FOCUS Greater Syracuse and was Assistant Director of the ESF Alumni Association. In both roles, he connected and engaged with a network of dedicated community members.

Frank still continues to spend his time providing feedback to NYSDEC and Onondaga Cleanup partners through volunteer leadership with community work groups and currently serves on the ESF Alumni Association and the Metropolitan Water Boards. Frank still likes to swim, fish, paddle, bird watch, and spend as much time as he can with his family.
