Knaggs Ranch is a rice farm located in the Yolo Bypass. This is a cooperative project where researchers work with farmers by using their rice fields during the off season to flood with water and Chinook salmon. The Chinook will stay in our fields for approximately 6 weeks where they will grow in length as well as gain enough fat stores to make the long journey to the ocean! Fish are not the only ones to make good use of the rice fields. These fields are used by many different birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles.
