Land Libraries

Hi all,

It's great to see everyone joining the Land Libraries iNaturalist project! This page will be the central hub for landholders participating in the program to add and share their Land Libraries sightings!.

Just a few housekeeping things as we get set up.

Observation boundaries

Since Land Libraries is primarily focused on BCT Conservation Agreements, we ask that you:

• Ensure all observations tagged under the Land Libraries project are within a reasonable range of your Conservation Agreement boundary (i.e. ~500m)

How to add an observation to the project

Observations can be manually added to the Land Libraries project directly from the observation page:

1. Open any of your observations on iNaturalist
2. Scroll down on the right-hand side to find the Projects section (highlighted below - 1)
3. Click the "Add to a Project" search box and type Land Libraries
4. Select the project from the dropdown to add your observation

How to remove an observation from the project

Made a mistake or added the wrong observation? No problem:

1. Open the observation on iNaturalist
2. Scroll to the Projects section on the right-hand side
3. Find Land Libraries in the list and click the gear icon ⚙ next to it
4. Select Remove from project

Bulk adding past observations to the project

If you have existing observations you'd like to add all at once, you can batch add them using iNaturalist's Edit Observations tool:

1. Go to the Land Libraries project page and click "Add from Your Observations" — or go to your profile icon (top right) and select Edit Observations
2. Use the search filters to narrow down your observations (e.g. by place or date)
3. Click Batch Edit, then Select All
4. Deselect any observations that don't fit within the boundary guidelines above
5. Use the "Add to Project" dropdown to add the selected observations to Land Libraries
