Nuthatch Hollow is a beautiful area of roughly 75 acres of woodland, stream, scrub land and grassland in upstate New York near the city of Binghamton. The variety of habitat (meadow, hemlock forest, wetlands, deciduous stands) allows a great diversity of wildlife to utilize the area. The property was previously utilized as a bird sanctuary by Robert Schumann before he gifted the land to Binghamton University. The site is now used for research and education. Nuthatch Hollow is also the proposed site of a classroom and laboratory that will be built as an energy-positive, carbon-negative, regenerative Living Building. Access is by permission only while the facilities are updated/repaired and plans are formed.
