Impossible to get a in focus, close photo of it, but it’s in frame unfocused. there were two that were interacting on one of the last remaining flowering plants. Caught my eye immediately in the colorless surroundings. Bright metallic green. Very small (~5 mm). Constantly actively moving around the flowers on this one still-green plant. very shy of my camera.

This oiled young bird came ashore and was eventually captured and taken to a rehabilitation center. It died soon after and is now a specimen at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History (SBMNH #10610). This bird was accepted by the CBRC (https://www.californiabirds.org/default.asp ) as record 2014-037.
