Description

While walking along the Spicebush Trail in the Thain Family Forest at NYBG today I felt something graze the back if my head. I turned around to see this poor bat on the path behind me on its back with its wings outstretched. I thought it was dead and decided to move it off the trail. I gently picked it up with some sticks and put it on some leaves when I noticed it was breathing. I waited. After a few minutes it revived enough to fly to a branch and perch. A few more minutes later it decided to move on and swiftly flew through the trees and out of sight.

There is a toad or frog that has been attached to the brick of our building for over a week now. It never moves from the spot and no matter how many frog sites I go to, I can't match it. Anyone know what this thing is??

Description

We were walking through the Ramble when we saw some birders looking at something on the ground, which turned out to be this Red Bat. It was alive & breathing, but not moving. We watched over it for about 10 minutes, protecting it from people & dogs, until it flew about 20 m into a small elm tree, where it hung by one foot. Perhaps it had fallen out of a tree & been stunned?
