Due to time of year not commonly seen. These images taken from a male individual found with a gravid female in a Chatham Island Petrel (Pterodroma axillaris) artificial burrow.

Gecko was darkish brown in colour with mottled lighter patches, the fingers looked long and slender, so it may have been a forest gecko. Individual was partially outside on the tree trunk, but withdrew into its hole.

About 4m above ground - spotted the feet curled around the bottom of kiekie leaf.
Couldn't get a glimpse of head markings - so difficult to say if we've seen this male before.
