Description
Almost all potential habitat was fenced, found one good spot outside the fence. Very few shells seen, only one live snail but more habitat up behind fence. Thick shell, no spiral striae, glossy wrinkled surface, diameter 20mm, height 11 mm, mostly open umbilicus, about 2.8 mm. In proper area for cuyama.
The last photo is of a snail shell embedded in tufa with moss growing in it. This is likely an H. cuyama shell, same location as the live one. The tufa indicates there has been water here for many years, probably a seep or spring upslope.
