Blooms in profusion. Stems reach well above the leaves. Flowers about .3 cm across. Growing near a creek, but not on wet ground.
Anyone know the species?
Growing next to the road in an elevated lawn in a dry sandy area. Maybe 2-3" tall.
Only got a ventral shot before the bird took off.
Calling it sharp-shinned based on size and short, square tail.
Fairly large bird, and very dark. I am not completely sure on the id, but I don't know what would be a better fit. Not the best of photos either which doesn't help the id.
This looks like the Common Checkered-Skipper to me, but the place where I was located is a cross-over zone White C-S and Tropical C-S, so I appreciate any affirmation.
Yes, another terrible bird picture...but it's kind of distinctive.
